Previous courses have focused on preparing the student for the work of the ministry. This course begins to provides some of the nuts-and-bolts that students will need to do the work of the ministry. The Kingdom Focused Leader challenges readers to lead like Christ, who intentionally orchestrated his life and ministry to further the Kingdom of God. Students are introduced to two vital ministry skills: communication and care. Andy Stanley’s Communicating for Change will help students develop and deliver clear, powerful sermons and lessons. Paul Tripp’s How People Change is a biblical examination of the heart with a Christ-centered understanding of change. It addresses how the past, present and future grace of Christ meets people in the issues of daily life; how suffering and other situational factors relate to a person's actions and reactions; and the Christian’s identity in Christ amidst it all. This course examines the key doctrines of Christianity. Class material aims to introduce the field of theology and provide a workable knowledge of the following important Christian doctrines: Christ, Salvation, The Holy Spirit, The Church, and Last Things. Additionally, students will engage theology on a devotional level so that these key doctrines penetrate the heart as well as the head.M att Chandler’s The Explicit Gospel will further challenge students to obtain a holistic view of the Bible and to be capable of clearly explaining and proclaiming the Gospel.
